Surprise! This Greenville maternity photographer has been her own secret client. Six months pregnant and finally sharing it with the world!

This year I started thinking our daughter needed a sibling. My husband was pretty set on being one and done, so I tried to let it go.
Then June rolled around, and surprise! We’re pregnant! My husband is still trying to wrap his head around it!
We were both certain it would be another girl, and our daughter was completely sure she was getting a sister. When the ultrasound said otherwise, she was not thrilled. The tech didn’t want to tell her!
We told our friends and family by sending them a voice note of her crying, “I’m having a brother, but I wanted it to be a sister!”

It was hilarious and very on-brand for a dramatic three-year-old. Thankfully, she’s totally turned it around. Now she kisses my belly every day and talks to her baby brother like he can already understand her.

As a Greenville Maternity Photographer, I’ve captured so many women at this exact stage,
celebrating their changing bodies and growing families, so it felt fitting that I’d take my own maternity photos.
I designed every detail with intention. The lighting, the styling, the color pallet, all the things I love about my maternity work came together, but this time, it was personal. My husband helped by pressing the shutter (and I’ll give him credit, he followed directions like a champ). I handled everything else, from the setup to the posing, and somehow it worked exactly how I imagined it.

Being in front of my own camera reminded me why I love what I do. Maternity photos aren’t just about documenting a bump, they’re about pausing time. About showing the beauty and strength in a season that can feel exhausting and emotional and absolutely incredible all at once.
This experience also gave me a whole new perspective as a photographer. I realized just how physically draining a photoshoot can be for a pregnant mom. Even as someone who does this every day, I left the session tired but so fulfilled.

Going forward, I’ll be even more intentional about building in extra water and snack breaks, and checking in to make sure my clients are being honest when they need a rest. I’ve always encouraged breaks, but now I really understand how much they matter.
One of my favorite parts was seeing my creative vision come to life. I’ve been waiting to use this beautiful blue fabric for months, and it felt meant to be that my own session was the first time it came out of storage.
And as funny as it felt practicing poses in the mirror, that part gave me a boost of confidence too.
Experiencing the poses myself helped me see what’s flattering, what feels natural, and what might need adjusting for comfort. I walked away even more confident in my posing direction and in helping other women feel beautiful in their own skin.

Thank you for following along as we prepare to welcome our baby boy this February. I can’t wait to share more of this journey, with both my family and the incredible moms who trust me to capture theirs.
